Yesterday, I told someone that there was too much advice on LinkedIn. I regret that because while there is a ton of bad advice on LinkedIn, there’s also some really good advice out there.

Today, however, I’m going to stay in my lane and stick to a topic I’m more comfortable with: Content Strategy & SEO! Instead of giving you “bad advice,” though, I want to share some curated resources from people who have far more practice using their tips.

LinkedIn’s ‘Save’ Feature Is A Lifesaver

Save LinkedIn posts to advance your SEO strategy.

But first, have you used the “save” feature on a LinkedIn post before? If not, get on that, you’re missing out! I have so many tips & tricks saved, and since I have no use for them at the moment, I’m sharing them with you!

SEO Resources 101: Back to Basics

All Types of Keywords

If you’re new to SEO, or just need a refresher on the basics, Sanjay SIingh, provides a helpful list of terminology related to keyword usage. Remember: keyword stuffing is a huge DON’T; your content needs to be authentic and aligned with Google’s E-E-A-T philosophy.

SEO Glossary for 2024

Quick, off the top of your head, what does ccTLD mean? If your mind drew a blank, fear not! Here’s another great “Back to Basics” resource for SEO professionals! Rakesh Nimmala provides this list of SEO terminology to refer back to on those days when your brain is fried after being immersed in GA4 and you’re like, “What does this mean again?”

SEO Content Strategies and Best Practices

6 SEO Content Mistakes, Myths, and Misunderstandings To Rethink This Year

This resource was shared by Judith Ingleton-Beer, CEO of IBA, who found a great article about SEO myths from the Content Marketing Institute. If you’re not following them on LinkedIn, that’s another thing to get on! My favorite myth from this article is “Thinking AI can write SEO content that ranks well.”

“So, you might overwhelm Google in the near term with a flood of AI-created content. But as content marketers, that’s not your game. You’re in it for the long haul to position your brands as trusted resources, not gimmick-driven attention seekers,” says Kim Moutsos, of Content Marketing Institute. This is where Google’s E-E-A-T comes back into play — see the related articles below for more info.

22-Step Checklist For A ‘Perfect’ SEO Blog Article

Don’t take my word for it, but Connor Gillivan created this extensive list for writing the perfect blog. You may say, “22 steps, though, hard pass,” but I assure you, these are steps you’ll want to be taking … some of which I’ve put into practice in this post. See if you can spot which ones!

On-Page & Off-Page SEO Tips For Better Visibility

SEO Internal Linking Process (9-Step Checklist)

Connor Gillivan is back with another awesome resource for developing an internal linking process! I used many of these tips at HRlogics, before stumbling upon this resource, and I support his suggestions after seeing results implementing similar methods.

How To Build The Backlinks To Your Website Traffic

I don’t care what anyone says, backlinks are still important — although I agree, some of our practices could be fine-tuned! Enter Job4it Jobs’ Backlink Bundles slide deck. With Google’s recent Core Update, it seems that Reddit is the best place to be if you want to rank on Google, but that also depends on your organization.

The Ultimate SEO Backlink Cheat Sheet

I’m a visual person and because I have a graphic design background, I love a good infographic. I’m bringing Connor Gillivan back up because he shared this helpful graphic that provides a great list of best practices and tools for building backlinks to your website.

He mentions HARO to showcase your brand’s expertise, but I’ll also throw out my own suggestion, Qwoted. Whenever you post an article that mentions or quotes a thought leader from your company, include a link back to the article on your expert’s Qwoted profile — and remember to UTM tag it so you can track it later! Treat your quoted profile as another way to get traffic to your site and beef the baby up with some content!

Using AI for SEO Content Generation

How To Rank A Blog With Gemini In Just 48 Hours

I love Google Gemini, especially because it’s powered by Google so when you ask it a question about Google Analytics, for instance, you get a better response than ChatGPT — at least that’s been my experience so far.

In any case, if you read through that Myths article, and you’re like, “Shouldn’t I be avoiding AI?” No, no, AI can be your friend; if used correctly! Anna York, a Senior Digital Marketing Consultant, shared tips for using Gemini to update your existing blog content to “focus on the 20% of ranking factors that get you 80% of your traffic.” It could be worth looking into!

7 Boring SEO Tasks Done In 1 Minute With ChatGPT

Remember how I said AI could be useful, here’s one of those instances! SEO expert, Samy Thuillier shares some tips for automating your SEO tasks using ChatGPT. I especially like the Alt-tag tip because you can crank out a ton without typing them all and risk a manual mistake.

7 Mega Prompts for SEO Using ChatGPT

Here’s another great resource for ChatGPT prompts and SEO! Justin Chia, an Analytics & AI Content Creator, offers seven prompt ideas for various industry types, there’s even one for B2B. Combining these prompts with the ones mentioned in the resource above will give you a toolbox of great prompt ideas to help speed up your workflow while still being able to generate great content!

13 Proven Strategies to Boost Your Google Content Rankings

The other day I was researching the telecom company, Lumen, and stumbled upon this article from Lumen's Creative Copywriter & Content Marketer, Christine O'Connor. O'Connor does a great job outlining the steps you need to take to make your content rank in Google and even offers helpful resources (check out the links in the article).

My favorite tip: "Keyword research isn't just about industry terms; it's also about answering your audience's questions," O'Connor says. "Including question-based keywords in your SEO strategy helps you connect with customers at different stages."

This statement is more important than ever, especially with Reddit and Quora answers ranking higher than most web pages.

Don’t Overlook SEO In Your Content Strategy

B2B audiences have many ways of finding answers to their questions, meaning your content needs to connect and offer these answers while standing out from all the competing sites on Google. According to SEMrush:

  • "B2B buyers spend the highest percentage of their buying journey (27%) researching online independently (Gartner, 2019)."

  • "Around 94% of B2B buyers are “somewhat” or” fully informed” about what they’re going to purchase before reaching out to sales reps (Google, 2022)."

  • "You can see a 5-10% increase in B2B revenue from increasing the relevance and engagement of your content (McKinsey, 2022)."

  • "Organic search and referral traffic are the largest and most effective sources of marketing ROI for brands (Semrush, 2023)"

This is where SEO comes into play because it is a vital (and cheap) way to drive traffic to your website, but it’s like a weapon, you have to use it correctly or it could backfire. Hopefully, some of the resources above have been helpful and just not another echo in the void.
